Tulip ‘Red Impression’

The Tulip ‘Red Impression’ does indeed give the impression of being simply red, and a beautiful gem-like ruby red at that. But first impressions can be misleading. The closed pyramid-like bulb of this darwin hybrid has many tones, shades and colors in its spectacular flower. Varying shades of red, including hints of rose and plum, add color play to the outside of petals as they emerge from a purple base. Then, when the bloom opens to reveal its giant interior, the petals give a completely different impression, seeming a darker red against a black base, trimmed with bright yellow.
